The following essays I have chosen to be of current and perhaps timeless interest to those of us who are following the path of “getting it all together.” They bring together my public and private self, talks and sermons I have given and personal experience in spiritual and psychological development, generated in large part by my Unitarian Universalist ministry of thirty years. You will also discover a serious delving into the wisdom of World Religions, especially Judeo-Christian, pastoral and family counseling—with, I hope, a dash of humor here and there. I believe that humor is what in the end is our saving grace, as vital as faith, hope and charity.
I am especially grateful to the congregations I have served in Park Forest, Illinois, and in Montclair, California, for supporting me, responding to me with positive regard, and helping me to hone my preaching and pastoral skills for three decades. Those folks are my folks and remain alive and well in my memory and heart for always.
